Add -ING to the verb

to do = doing
-
to talk = talking
-
to speak = speaking
SOME EXCEPTIONS
Verbs ending in - E
1 syllable verbs: just add -ING
-
to see = seeing
-
to be = being
2 or more syllables: drop the -E and add -ING
-
to dance = dancing
-
to have = having
Verbs ending in - IE
Drop the -IE and add -Y + ING
-
to lie = lying
Verbs ending in CVC (consonant - vowel - consonant)
Weak syllable: just add -ING
-
to listen = listening
-
to open = opening
Stressed syllable: double the last consonant and add -ING
-
to begin = beginning
-
to stop = stopping
For CVC ending in -Y,-X or -W: just add -ING
(these letters cannot be doubled)

to play = playing
-
to show = showing
-
to fix = fixing
DON'T FORGET!!!
For verbs ending in -Y, just add -ING.
NEVER EVER drop the -Y
-
to study = studying
-
to try = trying
* There are other exceptions. However, they may confuse more than help this time.
